Sightings 13/7/11

BRISTOL:
Cumberland basin: a Little Egret in the New Cut near the bonded warehouses this evening (CJ Stone).

Leigh Woods:

HORTON:
Near Springfield Farm today, 2 flyover Crossbill to south-west, 2 Bullfinch and a calling Little Owl (J Martin).

LOWER WOODS (south Glos):

SEVERNSIDE: per severnsidebirds
Severn Beach: a juvenile Little Ringed Plover in with 5 Ringed Plover on the beach this evening.


PORTBURY WHARF:

13.7.11 the Oystercatcher chicks this afternoon

The Oystercatcher pair have hatched another 2 chicks, hopefully they will last a bit longer than the first brood.

A Lapwing new in on the island today and 2 Common Sandpiper nearby.

Please park sensibly along Wharf lane if you decide to 'twitch' the Lapwing (S Hale).

CLEVEDON COAST:
Wain's Hill - Yeo Est, high tide count 5-7.30am: 18 Canada Goose, 57 Shelduck, 11 Oystercatcher, 1 Golden Plover (new at Channel View farm), 3 Lapwing, 7 Dunlin, single Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Whimbrel, 155 Curlew, 2 Common Sandpiper, 57 Redshank, 500 BH Gull, 100 Herring Gull and 150 Linnet (S Sanins).


CHEW VALLEY LAKE:


13.7.11 Black-tailed Godwits at the pool this morning
Herriott's: 4 Wigeon and 21 Black-tailed Godwit at the pool and a Hobby showing well.

Elsewhere, 5 Little Egret, 13 Grey Heron, 11 Lapwing around the lake and a Common Sandpiper at the dam (combined reports, S Davies, S Hale).

BLAGDON LAKE:
A drake Ferruginous Duck at Home Bay 1pm (per BL birds).
