Sightings 4/6/11

A Red Kite tsunami is on its way.

It is due to hit us on Mon/Tues. Members should grin and bear it.....


OLDBURY POWER STATION:
17 Whitethroat noteworthy. Many young birds of various species starting to appear (per opsbirding).


PORTBURY DOCK:
4.6.11 Shelduck brood, more ducklings out of shot

4.6.11 upmarket Grey Heron
we don't do political jokes....
Just 6 Oystercatcher and 7 Curlew along the shoreline this morning (S Hale).

PORTBURY WHARF:
4.6.11 Chiffchaff (with slightly odd song) this morning

The bird was singing along Wharf Lane, about 50yds down the track from the barns (S Hale).

CLEVEDON COAST: Wain's Hill - Yeo Est leg
84 Shelduck (+ 15 young), single Gadwall (Kenn Est), 79 Mallard, 6 Oystercatcher, 1 Little Ringed Plover (Yeo Est), 4 Ringed Plover, 34 Lapwing, 6 Dunlin, 2 Whimbrel, 35 Curlew, 2 Redshank, 9 Whitethroat, 2 Sedge Warbler, 3 Reed Warbler, single female Whinchat (CV Farm) and 140 Linnet (S Sanins).

SAND PT:
A male Stonechat and a Rock Pipit today (J Martin).

CHEDDAR:
A Dipper in the pool at the lower end of the gorge 9am this morning (S Marriott).

FOREST of DEAN:
At least 3 club members were out and about in the forest today, we don't know if they bumped into each other but they managed to send in pics of different species! We suspect collusion.
