Sightings 3/6/11

An influx of Red Kites into the country over the last few days, worth looking out for.


SEVERNSIDE: per severnsidebirds:
Aust: a Red Kite over the cliff section this morning.

PORTISHEAD:
A flyover Red Kite at Valley Rd 11.30am (P Edwards). Possibly the lingering bird first seen in the valley in early May or a new migrant.

PORTBURY WHARF:

Also 2 Cetti's Warbler singing around the bushes this morning (S Hale).

CHEW VALLEY LAKE:
An Egyptian Goose at the Heron's Green poll area 2.15pm today (per SOS).

Rare anywhere in Avon.

SHAPWICK HEATH-HAM WALL:
A Bittern, 2 Little Grebe, 11 Great-crested Grebe, 4 Little Egret, 10 Lapwing, 2 Cuckoo (1 in close up), single Jay, 2 Blackcap, 2 Whitethroat and 4 Reed Warbler (C Porter).

Ham Green 2/6/11:
A Red Kite over at 5.50pm (J Rossetti).
